Painter for more than 20 years, Isabelle Nativelle has been trained at the Ateliers de Sainte Adresse in Le Havre under the leading of François TROQUET.
She uses a mixed technique with acrylic to which she adds as the case may be ink, sand, stuck papers…
Colors are put in successive layers with large multi-use knives, more often on large-scale canvas, allowing large gesture. Powerful colors and the effects of material are the essential elements of her technique.
The reproduction of a reality is never the goal, this reality is just at the source of the process by colors and atmospheres of the places she likes, Norman coasts but also all the landscapes of her journeys.
Color is always the starting point, then a research of shapes equilibrium, without any figurative meaning.
The combination of both finally evokes an imaginary landscape where horizons find themselves in main thread. In these recomposed landscapes, we always find big spaces, the sky, the sea, the banks, but also sometimes more urban perspectives.
In parallel, she also likes working on the theme of characters or personal reorganization of landscapes or real places.
Everyone can interpret these compositions depending to his own universe.
In a parallel to her pictorial approach, the taste for the material brought her naturally to the modelling, her sculptures in terra-cotta, enamelled or skated, complete its artistic universe today.
Her inspirational themes are multiple: round and smooth animals, swimmers, scenes of family and dresses inspired by the collections of the fashion designers.
Even if the representation is present, fantasy is always there, as well as the color by means of patina.
